Paws Crossed

Welcome to Our Website

Welcome to the Paws Crossed Website, Our story isn’t that special or exciting, but it is ours. I was brought into rescue by chance by a stray in our neighborhood that took a year, a litter of pups, and many attempts to catch her. I saw how people treated her during that year. She was threatened, kicked, attempted to be shot, drugged, run over on purpose, and I thought there had to be a better way. I joined another rescue, as a board member and a foster, that was very dedicated to saving animals on a large scale. The fit wasn’t the right fit for what I had in mind. I thought maybe I could start a rescue and tailor it to the relationship between people and dogs. I had a philosophy to get a group of people together who were a little crazy, loved dogs but also loved people, and make the community a part of this rescue. Give ownership from me to them. I asked many rescues for advice and was amazed how many were there to offer support. Paws Crossed was born two years later. It has become something bigger than I could have imagined. It is no longer my rescue, but a community rescue. A community that works together in many different ways to give dogs a second chance. The support has been overwhelming! The love amazing! The kindness and compassion leaves us emotional at times. The most important thing that has come about is seeing rescues working together for the greater good. A team approach that supports and encourages each other in our strengths and weaknesses all because we all have the same mission and same goals to make a difference in an animal’s life. Since April of 2017, when we became a 501c3, we have rescued, adopted, or transported 124 dogs.
